Pet squirrel framed toy crochet pattern, PDF in English

Let’s crochet this pet squirrel together. You can use any yarn, my tiny squirrel is made with lace cotton together with the wire frame. You can shape the toy in any way due to the presence of the frame and movable legs made by a thread joint method. If you crochet the toy with lace yarn, you can string the hat pin with the toy and use it as a brooch.

(Due to the presence of small parts, this toy is not suitable for the children under 10)

To crochet squirrel you would need:

1. Basic crochet skills: magic ring, single crochet, decrease, increase

2. Materials:

• Yarns. All of the same thickness. Mine are Dandy by Kamteks in orange and Pelican by Vita in brown, 330 m/ 50 gr (365 yds/ 1.76 oz), 100 % mercerized cotton, Lace yarn.

• Matching hook. Mine is 0.75 mm (metric)

• Filler

• Wire to make the frame. I’ve used a floristic wire 0.6 mm thick

• Instruments to work with wire: pliers, round-nose pliers

• Sticking plaster roll to cover the wire

• Eyes. Mine are 2 mm insertable eyes

• Glue for eyes

• Black and white embroidery floss to design the eye

• Pins, scissors, fine needle

• I’ve used a contrasting thread as a stitch marker to mark the rounds.
