Greenya the crocodile toy crochet pattern, PDF in English

For those who got attracted by these dangerous but cute crocs I offer a crochet pattern enabling to make this nice tiny crocodile. Not dangerous at all!

The toy can be made with any yarn, even plush yarn will do. The size will depend on the yarn of choice. Mine is made with lace mercerized cotton, its height is around 5 cm. The head is attached with a cotter pin and turns on its axis by 360 degrees. The paws are joined with a help of the thread joint method, movable. The ways to do it are described and shown in detail in the pattern.

(Due to the presence of small parts, this toy is not suitable for the children under 10)

This crochet tutorial is written in English (US terms).

To crochet crocodile you would need:

1. Basic crochet skills: magic ring, single crochet, decrease, increase

2. Materials:

• Any yarn. My basic yarn in green is 100% mercerized cotton yarn Seam Anna 20, measuring 330 m / 50 gr (360 yds/1.76 oz – lace yarn);

• Matching hook. Mine is 0.75 mm (metric)

• Filler

• Eyes. Mine are 3 mm insertable eyes

• Glue for eyes

• White and black embroidery floss to design the snout, yellow – to embroider stripes on the belly (you can use fine lace yarn as well);

• To attach the head you will need 2 discs 6 mm in diameter each (you can use bigger discs, 9 mm, especially if you are going to use thicker yarn), one T-shaped cotter pin 1.6*20 mm. The croc’s head will turn on its axis by 360 degrees.

• Round pliers to twist the cotter pin, pliers if needed.

• Needle to sew the parts together

• Scissors

• Stitch marker to indicate the beginning of the round (I have a thread of a contrasting color), pins.

• Any means to add tone to the cheeks and body. I’ve used dry pastels in red and brown and a blender brush.

If you use the materials mentioned above, the croc’s height will be around 5 cm (~2 inches).
