Young bull calf brooch crochet pattern, PDF in English

I invite you to crochet this cute tiny New Year present, but not only this. The brooch looks gorgeous pinned to a bag pack, coat, jacket or a cozy sweater.

In the pattern I’ve explained how to make a brooch, but you can as well make an Xmas tree ornament, a bag charm, a car accessory, or a fridge magnet out of it. You can add a nose ring, some spots on the body, a cowlick, etc. Anything up to your liking – just use your imagination!

(Due to the presence of small parts, this toy is not suitable for the children under 10)

The written pattern in .pdf format consists of 14 pages and includes around 55 photos, 7 video links.

To crochet bull you would need:

1. Basic crochet skills: magic ring, single crochet, double crochet, decrease, increase

2. Materials:

• Yarn. All of the same weight. My yarns are 100% mercerized cotton, measuring 330 m/50 gr (360 yds/176 oz – lace yarn):

I’ve used Dandy by Kamteks and Pelican by Vita. The main color is lilac, pink to make

nose, yellow to crochet horns, brown to make hooves, white – to make eyes.

• Matching hook. Mine is 0.75 mm (metric)

• Filler

• A cut of fine wire (~10 cm)(~4 inches) to make horns. My wire is 0.6 mm thick.

• Sticking tape to cover sharp wire ends

• Pliers to work with the wire

• 2 mm eyes (beads will do)

• Glue (to glue on the parts, I’ve used transparent CA glue) and liquid instant glue to attach eyes

• Black mouline thread to embroider the snout

• Brooch pin, mine is 2 cm

• Scissors, fine needle

• Pins

• Stitch marker (I have a contrasting thread)

This crochet tutorial is written in English (US terms).

If you use the materials mentioned above, the size of your brooch will be around 6 cm (~2 inches).
