Helicopter brooch crochet pattern, PDF in English

There are plenty of girlish brooches, but it is not always possible to make something interesting fro boys. I suggest we crochet together this funny helicopter brooch. It can be worn with pleasure by both boys and girls. This pattern is from the “Machines” series ( you can find the patterns of a car, tractor and steam boat brooch in my store).

 

My pattern is in a .pdf format, containing 8 pages and 25 step-by-step photos. The pattern is in English and is intended for those who already have some skills in toy crochet.

 

(Due to the presence of small parts, this toy is not suitable for the children under 10)

 

To crochet Helicopter you would need:

1. Basic crochet skills: magic ring, single crochet, decrease, increase

2. Materials:

• Any fingering yarn, all of the same weight. Mine yarns are 100% mercerized cotton (3-ply yarns): Coco by Vita ( 240 m / 50 gr – 262 yds/ 1.76 oz) and Uspeshnaya by Pekhorka ( 220 m / 50 rg – 240 yds / 1.76 oz) of different colors.

• Matching hook. Mine is 1.25 mm (metric)

• Filler

• A cut (~20 cm – 8 inches) of fine wire to make the landing wheels and the lifting propeller. I have a floristic wire 0.6 mm

• Round pliers and usual pliers to work with the wire.

• Sticking tape to wrap around the wire

• Transparent CA glue or some similar to wrap the wire with.

• 2 mm eyes (beads will do)

• Black embroidery floss to design the snout

• Brooch pin, mine is 2 cm

• Scissors, fine needle

• Pins

• Stitch marker (I have a contrasting thread)

3. My detailed crochet tutorial. Good mood as an addition.

 

If you use the materials mentioned above, the size of the brooch will be around 5.5 x 6 cm (~2 x 2.3 inches).
