Halloween bat brooch crochet pattern, PDF in English

One more quick and easy Halloween brooch pattern is now ready! (please also see the Ghost pattern in my store). You can design this bat in any way you like: using dark yarn, pink with a bow, with rolling eyes, with tusks or without them, you can add a wire to the wings to shape them, etc.

 

(Please note, that if you use beads or any other tiny parts like eyes to design the brooch, it will not be suitable for small children due to choking hazards)

 

This crochet tutorial is written in English (US terms), in .pdf format consists of 9 pages and includes around 35 photos

 

To crochet bat you would need:

1.Basic crochet skills: magic ring, single crochet, decrease, increase, double crochet, half double crochet, chain stitch, slip stitch

2.Materials:

-Any fingering yarn. All colors are of the same weight. My yarns are 100% mercerized cotton: Uspeshnaya by Pechorka 220 m/50 gr (240 yds/1.76 oz) and Coco by Vita in green 240 m/50 gr( 260 yds/1/76 oz)- 3-ply yarn

-Matching hook. Mine is 1.25 mm (metric)

-Filler

-4 mm insertable eyes

-Liquid instant glue

-Black and white Mouline embroidery floss to design the snout (or lace yarn)

-Any means to add tone to the cheeks, ears and body. I used black and red dry pastels + blender blush

-Brooch pin, mine is 2 cm

-Scissors, fine needle

-Pins

-Stitch marker (I have a contrasting thread)

If you use the materials mentioned above, the height of the bat will be around 6.5 cm (~2.5 inches) together with ears. The width of the brooch with stretched wings is 6.5 cm.
